Privacy

The short version: Dokle has no login, and the only thing it ever asks you for is an email address, if you want the newsletter. The site is funded by advertising served through Google AdSense, which may use cookies. Every reader is asked for consent first.

What we collect

Nothing about you directly, unless you ask for the newsletter: then your email address, and only that. There are no accounts, so there is no name or payment data to collect.

The newsletter

If you ask for the newsletter, we keep your email address, where on the site you asked, and when you asked and confirmed. The address goes on the list only after you press Confirm on the page the email's link opens, and that link works for 48 hours. If you don't confirm, the address never goes on the list and is deleted once the link has expired.

We use your address to send the newsletter and for nothing else, and we never sell it or share it. The list is kept in our database at Supabase and the email is sent through Resend, both in the European Union, and no email of ours tracks whether you open it or what you click.

Every email we send carries a link that takes you off the list: one press, and your address is deleted. To keep the form from being used to fill other people's inboxes, we count how often each network address uses it; that count is kept at Upstash and deleted after ten minutes.

Advertising

Ads on this site are served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies to show ads based on your previous visits to this and other websites, and to measure how ads perform. You can read how Google uses data from sites that show its ads at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites, and manage personalised advertising at adssettings.google.com.

A consent prompt appears on your first visit, and no advertising script is loaded and no advertising cookie is set until you agree. You can accept or refuse, and you can change your choice at any time from the Privacy settings link in the footer. Your answer is kept for six months, then asked again.

Audience measurement

We use Vercel Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights to count page views and measure loading performance. They do not use cookies and do not identify individual visitors.

Your preferences

If you change the theme, the contrast or the size of the text, that choice is saved in your browser's local storage so the site remembers it next time, and so is your answer to the consent prompt. It stays on your device. We never see it.

Hosting and logs

The site runs on Vercel. Like any web host, Vercel records standard request data such as IP address and browser type to serve the pages and keep the service running. That data is handled under Vercel's own privacy policy.

If this changes

If we add anything else that collects data about you, we will update this page first and say plainly what changed.
